Beware of this building. I have lived here for only five months and I would jump out of the window just not to have to live here any longer.

Firstly, it is a subsidized building .. meaning Section 8 and the leasing people don't bother to tell you. I don't know about you, I have a problem paying over $1000 for a convertible and next door they pay probably $200 for two bedrooms with 6 inhabitants. Unlike the other writer, I HAVE seen "gangbangers". In fact, this summer when I first moved, there were two men smoking weed outside the building door. Upon telling the manager, I was told that I should call the police (not like THEY "MANAGE" the building or anything!!) My next door neighbors are the loudest, most ignorant people ever. It is true that you can have a bad neighbor anywhere, but it seems out of all the places that I have lived, this subsidized building has way more instances of garbage in the halls, loud talking and doors slamming at all times of the night and people just all around not repsecting their environment.

Secondly, the other writer is correct in saying that the management and especially leasing agents are pretty dismissive once you move in. I was hurried through my initial walk through to the point where I had to ask where the laundry room was once I moved in. I moved here in a pinch and really didn't have time to back out. The door people are very nice, but they don't do their jobs. If you are looking for a secure building -- DO NOT COME HERE. Since I have lived here, I have gotten TWO phone calls letting me know when someone is on their way upstairs. I usually just get a knock on my door. With this building being as big as it is, with all the different types coming in and out and me being a young woman living alone, that is VERY problematic. They are supposed to stop you and check you in and call the person you are visiting ... it doesn't happen.

Again, the management office does nothing after all of my complaining. I even have had to get a sleep machine that plays white noise at night so that I can sleep over all the noise in the halls. It's a very low class building. Any given morning around 4 am I may hear a woman yelling at her child, banging on the door telling him to let her in .. at 7 am I may hear that same child playing in the halls with his remote control car bumping into the walls .. at 12 am on the dot every night "Max" comes by to visit .. the walls are like tissue .. it's hellatious!

If you are looking for the same location, but a totally different feel ... check out McClurg Court. I moved from there to over here and hate that I made that decision. The view is MUCH better over there and the floorplan lay-out is much better also. The apartments here are long and narrow .. not the best. My shower has no water pressure, the towel rack fell off the wall and I just realized that there is no light fixture in the kitchen, just a lightbulb. I don't call the maintanence men because I don't trust them in my house when I'm not here. This place can make you paranoid really quickly. Oh, and the window insulation is horrid. It is absolutely freezing in the winter. My heating bill for a month was $75 and I only have a convertible. I had to stuff towels by the windows and under the front door.

Obviously, I am not a fan of this place and plan on getting out as soon as possible. I would just advise you to take a look at the building before moving. Come around early in the morning when there are 15 to 20 Section 8 kids running all around the lobby, spitting and cursing waiting for their school buses. Come in the evening when all the "hoopties" and Cadillacs come around to pick people up with doo-rags on their heads and pants down around their ankles. Every last one of my friends whom I've brought here have commented on how "interesting" the mix of people here are. Needless to say, my mother is petrified and wants me to move back home ASAP and I'm grown!!

Please, PLEASE beware!! And no, I'm not a hick nor prejudiced. I'm an --------American woman who just takes pride in where I live and I tell it like it is.
