Bad Management

I have lived at Lake Shore Plaza for well over 5 years. During the first 3 or 4 years, I had no real complaints. The management was pretty cordial. The building has no major issues. Yes, it is partial HUD, but that did not pose any real problems.

However, over the last 1 1/2 to 2 years, the building has fallen apart. This same time period just happens to coincide with Patty, the building manager, taking over the building. Is that reason, I will let everybody else determine that.

First, I want to say that she is just a nasty person. She is mean to the residents, mean to her own staff, and mean to the guests who come into the building. I have heard her yell at employees in front of the residents, bringing them to tears. I have heard her make derogatory comments about the HUD residents and some of the older population in the building. She simply does not respect anyone other than herself (and I would question whether she even respects herself given her behavior in the building).

We have four elevators in the building and the service elevator. However, 1 of the elevators has been out for about 2 months and each time we are told "one more week." There have been many many times where we are down to 1 or 2 elevators making it virtually impossible to get in or out of the building. I actually waited 30 minutes one day to get to work. We are told we can use the service elevator, but it never works.

On on occasion, all of them were out. A group of people gathered in the lobby waiting to get home. Patty came in and yelled at all of the residents that there were too many people in the lobby and we needed to wait outside. Right, in 10 degree weather with a snow storm.

In the last or so, the type of residents that have entered the building has really declined. There are many drug dealers, which brings very shady people in the building. Sometimes, I feel like I am getting high just being in the elevator because is smells of marijuana so bad. I think there are also prostitutes in the building because I have seen some people actually having sex in cars in front of the building. I actually saw condom wrappers on the sidewalk.

Being in the elevator is scary. One day, you could be in there were all doctors and professionals. The next day, it is all homeless people who are trying to take off their clothes in the elevator and they smell like urine, beer, and smoke.

These are just some of the problems that I have had to deal with in the last few months alone. There are so many better apartments. Go to the Streeter or 420 Ohio. The actually treat their residents and guests nicely.

Oh, yeah, the building went into foreclosure and the government actually owns the building. So, there are no private owners to even try to keep things up to date. When HUD goes to renew their contract, we will get a note to give them things thae need fixed. That is the only time we can get anything fixed in our apartment
