They treat us like we are high school students!

I have lived in this building for several years. I am a professional. I pay my rent on time and just want to live in a quiet building where I can relax at the end of the day. But the management, consisting of Patty, Denise, and Kathy, make it impossible to do so. They treat us all like we are teenagers who need constant supervision. I feel like I am guest of theirs as oppose to having my own apartment. For instance, my visitors have been banned from the building for no reason. I have a cleaning lady that comes in twice and month and I am being told, unless I am home, she will not be permitted to enter the building -- EVEN THOUGH SHE HAS MY PERMISSION AND HAS A KEY TO MY APARTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a visitor for a weekend, and she was banned from entering the apartment because I was not with her, again EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD A KEY TO MY APARTMENT. When I inquired into having a friend let into my unit, I was told, she has to have a key. So, I paid the money to have an extra key made and gave her the key. Then, when she attempted to enter the building with the key that I paid for and gave her, she was prevented from entering, was treated very poorly by Denise, and told she would not be permitted to enter unless she had a key and a key card. When I asked about getting a key card duplicated, I was told, oh, no, only people on the lease can have a key card.
I am in my 30s and am so tired of dealing with the mean spirited, rude management. I thought I left that all behind when I graduated college. The rules have changed since I haved lived there to fit their needs. One day, the rules are one thing and the next day they are another.
Yet, despite placing riciculous rules on paying tenants, they let drug dealers enter the building to deal drugs on the 10th floor. They let the homeless guy who hangs out in front of Starbucks to come and go as he pleases and he doesn't live in the building -- obviously doesn't pay rent. They make up the rules as they go along, and change them from day to day and apply them inconsistently.
Also, if you live here for the convenience of living downtown, make sure that you get up 1/2 hour early because the elevators are always broken and it takes about that long to get one in the morning.

I've been trying to figure that out as well...see my post 1/28/07 (Where can you lodge a complaint with the city?) There's a lot of us who are not only disappointed, but pissed off with the terrible service and living conditions. It's ridiculous already!

Well all I can say is that I wish I would'ver read reviews before I rented! Every review I've read thus far has been entirely accurate. They do treat their tennants more like unwanted guests, and are very unproffesional in their ways. They're recently re-sealing the exterior windows and came in to take my screens out. I just asked how long this will be and was told approximately 3 weeks! I could see a few days, maybe a week, but they are basically telling me I can't open my windows for 3 weeks! Completely rediculous! Oh and if you would like a guest in the pool area, that'll be $5 per person per day; never mind $1200 I pay in rent! Suffice to say I will be moving once my lease is up, but I would like to know if there is a city board that this sort of stuff can be reported to.
