if you read the paperwork - you would have known that you CAN have a pet - you just need to pay a Pet Deposit. Its quite simple. I don't even have a pet and I know this.

Actually that is not true at all. Maybe YOU need to read the paperwork. The lease allows cats, not dogs. But, they relaxed the policy about 3 years ago, and allowed people in with dogs. Then, after they did that, they told the pet owners that they could not have dogs and tried to kick all of the dogs out. Some left voluntarily, like me, and others decided to stay and fight it. I don't know if an actual lawsuit was filed, but a lawyer became involved and some sort of agreement was worked out with those people who currently lived in the building with a dog. My guess is that this does not apply to those newer people in the building. So, before you so rudely respond to somebody, check your facts!
