Lake Shore Plaza

This highrise was such a disappointment to my relocation to Chicago. What a way to be introduced to this fine city! I transferred suddenly for work and this was the 2nd place I found - because of the quick availability they had and the price seemed "reasonable" I took it! You get what you pay for!
The leasing office is unfriendly to a point of arrogant....which I cannot understanding considering the condition of this bldg. You would think they worked at the Trump Twr with their attitudes!
The fitness center is FILTHY. They do not provide cleaning spray to clean the machines and machines are usually cleaned by maintenance once a week (if that). One elliptical machine was broke for a year and now a treadmill is out of order. They did not put out of order signs on the elliptical which would be a huge liability for them if someone was injured on it. I personally complained about it three different times and was told someone would be in to fix the machine.....when my lease was up last month, it was finally fixed (a year later).
The laundry room dryers do not always dry clothes. After the fifth time it occurred I called Coinmark and they reimbursed me for the money I lost.
They only give you one key for your apt and if you lock yourself out, you are charged $40. You cannot make copies of the key either due to the type of key it is. Since they will only provide one key, it's their way of capitalizing on a situation....even the doorman complained about it.
The bldg is a section 8 building which before moving there I didn't even know what section 8 stood for. Several of them congregate in the lobby daily and I live next door to one that screamed/yelled constantly, played loud music and smoked heavily. Smoke would bleed into my bathroom sometimes and also in the halls. I complained about her often and the doorman told me at one point that she had a drinking problem....not sure what that had to do with me!
The only bright spot of this building are the doorman and they dry cleaners associate. She knew me by name and was incredibly friendly.

I had asked several times for an extra set and told it wasn't possible. Regardless, the experience w/mgmt and leasing office along w/the unsanitary facilities are enough to scare even the Section 8 people away!

I think all the people who hate this place must live on the first few floors with them then. I live on the top floor and there's no smoke, bugs or noise people. And apparently I'm the only one with extra keys.
