I've lived hear for almost 3 years. I like the building (1920s era hotel with THICK walls) and location but the management is some of the worst I've ever dealt with. It's gotten worse each year.
It's not that they are bad people - just incompetent on every level. It's so bad that the property owners fire old management and hire new every few months. In 2.5 years I have seen over five different faces in the office here!
The night watchman was fired months ago and so far has not been replaced. I'd like to say that my neighbors are all mature grown ups, but many of them are not - so on any given night with no night staff this place gets rowdy.
Rumor is that this building is going condo - so perhaps the owners are just trying to run all of the renters off with poor service... I know that I won't renew my lease here in 2006.
In summation:
The good: Nice old building in moderately good condition.
Maintenance seems to fix things quickly (if the incompetent manager remembers to alert them to your problem.)
Great location.
The bad: Horrible, incompetent management. High turn over in mangers. Increasingly not a good deal for this area. (At this point I would pay a few hundred extra for better service and a night watchman.) This building used to be pristine - under the new management it is visibly more dirty.
I maintain hope that the current manager will be fired and replaced by someone competent... but so far this building is 0-5 for good managers.

My friend lives here and I just got back from her place this morning. The management freshly painted the walls before she moved in, but the problem is that they painted the bathroom doors without sanding them down so the paint made the door hard to shut. Anyways, this morning I shut the door all the way and locked myself in. After about 30 minutes of my friend trying to kick the door open, we called management. They finally got the door open, but that shouldn't happen in the first place. It's a complete hazard. If there were a fire, and someone was locked in the bathroom, that'd be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
