Stay away from this place

The first problem I experienced was the garage parking for residents. I understand that another company manages the garage. However, as this is the only parking option for residents, the garage is a reflection of the apartment community. Within the first month, my brand new car was damaged twice.
In addition to the problems with my car being damaged, often you wait more than 30 minutes when picking up your car. In particular,on one occassion, after waiting 20 minutes for the garage attendant to return with my car, he came back sans vehicle, only to say he could not locate my car. My car was eventually located by the garage attendant, after waiting a total of 40 minutes.
I understand a different company manages the garage, but it is a strong and negative reflection to the building.
Apartment Condition
One of the factors that led me to select McClurg Center for my new residence was the recent updating of the apartments. The new kitchens are great, but the new hardware and organizers in the closets are not. Both closets hanging bars and the shelving units in the master bedroom closets came crashing down within the first three weeks. The hanging bars simply pulled out from the wall, as they were only attached to the back of the closet and not secured on each end. The maintenance staff repaired both closets and they were very friendly and courteous. However, having to re-hang all the clothes and re-fold all the sweaters, sweatshirts, towels and sheets to place back on the shelves was not a task I wanted to redo, after unpacking only 2 weeks prior.
The brochures also state the apartments are cable ready, but they fail to inform you that cable is only available in the one bedroom and the living room. If you desire to have cable in the second bedroom, for a roommate or for cable internet access if the second room is to be used as a home office, you must contact the cable provider and pay for installation.
Noise Level
There is construction noise coming from the apartment above me. I suspected this is due to the upgrading they are doing to several of the apartments, however, no one in the management office will confirm for me that they are working in the apartment directly over mine. The construction noise often goes on at all hours of the day and night, often well past 10pm, midnight and even as late into the night at 2AM!! All calls to the management office to have the noise stop have been unsuccessful, with the only suggestion to call the police.
Elevators
If you have to be somewhere, anywhere - plan at least 30 minutes in advance. There is always at least 1 elevator out of service and a very long wait for the other two. And when the elevator does get there - it may be so packed with other people, youll have to wait for a second one.
Overall Service
I have contacted the management office on a several occasions for assistance. Most times I never received a call back, or I get information, only to find out I was given wrong information when I stop into the management office. They are unresponsive and simply dont care about residents.
The only saving grace
The one bright spot to this place is the door personnel and the recievining room staff. They are super friendly and helpful!
