Lying & Deceitful Management

When I moved to this apartment complex, they swore 24-hours a day, 7 days a week security. Gas was included in the rent, and my only additional expense was the electric bill.

Now, they got rid of security, and only have security 9-5. If security was present, it is because they lacked doormen or the doorman called sick. This means that they are unable to assist anyone for security purposes.

When security was available 24-7, if you got locked out of your apartment, the security would let you in for no charge. Nowadays, if you got locked out after the 8a.m.-4 p.m. shift of the security, you will be charged $100 for your stupidity. I have heard management say that the residents should be rightfully charged for being stupid.

Aside from this, without notice to the residents, management was successful to announce that they will no longer shoulder the gas bill, so now rent has actually gone up by $50 to $150 per month. The management, Wendy and Larry should be given awards for increasing the revenue of the 2 buildings!

After 9/11, there was an article in the Chicago Tribune, where the top 50 buildings were listed that were open to terrorist attacks because of the size of the buildings and the number of residents that will be affected. Included in the list was obviously, the Sears Tower and John Hancock, and this apartment complex was also included. That was not the same year the management let go of security for the second and third shifts. This happened in the earlier part of 2002. The management is incredible -- I don't think they care about safety.

Another bad thing is parking. Expect scratches on your car, if not a dent. The parking attendant is red-skinned, you would wonder how much he had been drinking. The first time my car got dented, I was told that it was my risk the moment I let the valet park it. I've seen them laugh at their own errors, but I never thought I myself would get offended when it happened to me.

Streeterville is controversial in itself, because this was where radioactive strontium was buried in the 1910s, during the time when strontium was used to make lamps. This article appeared in a small community paper, North Loop News, but construction continued and through the years, new buildings sprung up. If you bring a Geiger Counter in Streeterville, it will act up, from around east of Michigan Avenue to Navy Pier. I just hope my bad heart gets me first.

During winter pipes burst. My building got in the news in winter for bursting pipes that sprayed into the street.
