Although the rehabbed apartments are nice and some of the views are spectacular living here was a HUGE dissappointment. Worst place I've ever lived.

To start, the property manager is a complete shrew. I cannot understand how she holds that job. This is not a problem if you can stay clear of her but if you need something do not expect reasonableness (I wrote her a letter regarding a very rude staff member interaction - her response was a letter defending him and telling me it was basically my fault he was rude! - No joke!)

Second, $1,650 rent for a one bedroom is not top of the line but it should afford some luxury.... "Luxury" - if luxury to you is living with a bunch of green haired, pierced, 18 years olds from the Art Institute who are not the least bit peaceful at night. Yes, a good part of this building is a college dorm. I do not work my ass off and pay good rent to have my next door neighbor be 3 teenagers in a studio, rocking out all night. There are even handmade rules TAPED all over the building - reminicient of college.

Third, they claim to be doing all these renovatons. That's great if the things that are wrong get fixed first. The elevators are usually broken, the stairway to the rooftop smells like rancid trash the concourse level smells like a beef stew /ashtray concoction, the "free" internet is slower than dialup (if you take ONE ISDN line and split it 800 times it happens).

I left my laundrey there on a Sunday night and forgot, it was GONE by Monday afternoon. COME ON. At least leave it on the table for a day. (it was nothing anyone would want to steal)

The last thing is not the building's fault... there is zero to do in the neighborhood at night. One would think that "downtown" Chicago would be full of nightlife and great places to eat. Not around there there if you want to walk safely... Or if you consider bums your kind of nightlife... or you can visit the 5 teenagers in any given apartment on your floor.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the Property Manager is a complete shrew'

Completely agree with everything. I am so glad I got out of that place.

For a few good places at night are in the loop try Miller's Pub, Elephant Castle, and the Italian Village. Also, walking up Michigan a few blocks presents alot more choices like Webers, Lawry's, Thai Bowl, etc.
