North Harbor Tower manages to be both quiet and secluded while still feeling like you're right downtown. I commuted to Hyde Park for law school and never had any difficulties; it was the best commute I've had in my life, fifteen minutes along the glorious lakefront going against traffic. We rented a two-bedroom facing the lake on an upper floor and my husband set up the second bedroom as a home office -- again, a very comfortable work situation. And NHT was plenty close to Mag Mile for our tastes, maybe a ten-minute walk. We'd rather be ten minutes away and not have to deal with the lights and noise!
The parking garage had a tendency to raise its fees every few months, but I still felt it was worth it. I'm not sure why they got rid of the valet, but since I parked downstairs it didn't affect me. The building is super quiet -- thirty-odd floors above Lake Shore Drive, the traffic is just white noise, and the only time you hear your neighbors is when they're talking in the hallway. The gym fit our needs perfectly (no one was ever there!) and the laundry was relatively inexpensive. We've moved away from Chicago now and I miss it there already.
