We moved in last year and soon found out that there were bugs in the apartment. Like any other tenant, we complained to the management and they sent pest control guys. They came and psrayed pesticides every week for 3-4 months. Finally when they figured that there was no more activity, they said that we need to dispose our mattress and box spring. We did that and bought a new bed only to find that the problem was not resolved. We are still being bitten and are so scared to sleep with the lights off. We keep the lights on entire night. We were under the impression that we are probably the only tenants having the problem. However, after the lawsuit that was filed last week, and looking at the reviews I think there are more people like us who are facing similar problems. If this is true, I suggest that we form some group and send a petiton to the upper level (maybe the Habitat company itself). We need to approach the right people (the people who have the power to take decisions and not those who are puppets in the hands of others like the staff or tower managers)

According to the news, the attorney for the possible class action suit is Peter Stamatis.

I had a friend in NY whose apartment became infested with bedbugs, and it took nearly six months of continual spraying by a pest control company with experience. Bedbugs are extraordinarily nasty, and it's never just "one" apartment--bedbugs usually fester from one unit to another either through tiny gaps along the baseboards, tandem airvents between apartments, electrical outlets in the walls and through the hallway. Supposedly they detect their food "source" by carbon dioxide emissions (lovely--your breath attracts them). I am really sorry to hear about what you're going through (I do not live in your apartment buildings). Somehow, it's going to take a concerned effort by management to treat most of the apartments around the units that are infected--not just the one or two. And if residents are pursuing legal action, make sure that legal firm is a good one--I know The Habitat Company has deep pockets and very experienced lawyers that can litigate something like this for years.

We were living in Presidential Tower for 1 year and our lease was not renewed because they found 2-3 bedbugs in our apartment. We wanted to lease the apartment again after 6 months but the management did not allowed us based on our past history (they found 2-3 bedbugs in our apartment, which otherwise was all clean). After hearing the bedbugs problem in PT (Lawsuit which was filed in March 07), it seems the bedbugs problem is quite old in PT and its not our fault. The problem was already there and unfortunately they found 2-3 bedbugs in our apartment and thats why they are not allowing us to lease the apartment. Because of the location and convinience, we would like to move back to PT. Will they allow us now based on our past history and the recent Lawsuit case and the old problem that exist in PT? Any suggestions.

It seems that PT has a history of bed bugs and the staff/tower managers are of no help in this regards. Also this guys are too rude and do not listen to the complaints of the tenants whose apts are infected by bed-bugs. Instead this guys give instruction to destroy the furniture/clothes etc and furthermore they does not allow to renew the lease or to come back again to PT on new lease.
Its a good idea to talk with higher management i.e. someone at higher level in Habitat Company. I like the idea from joker2007 to form some group and send a petiton to the upper level (Habitat company itself). We need to approach the right people (the people who have the power to take decisions and not those who are puppets in the hands of others like the staff or tower managers). Let me know if you need any help from me.
