This place has changed a lot over the years and not necessarily for the best, especially for someone who wishes to rent here for a period of time. However for someone considering renting here there are a few things to consider:

Pros:
1. Maintenance staff- Not always the fastest, but they are friendly and courteous.
2. Amenities- grocery store, dry cleaners, health club, restaurants. Very convenient if you are a busy person.
3. Location-right off the expressway and in walking distance to the heart of the loop.
4. Security-building is very secure.

Cons:
1. Residents- population is now mainly college students and foreign contract employees. If you want an environment where you know your neighbors for more than a year, then PT is not for you.
2. Old appliances and 80 s d cor- the lobby and outside grounds are well maintained, but the apartments could definitely use some updating. This place was built in 1985 and I still had the original appliances (20 yrs old).
3. Paper thin walls and poor ventilation-I heard my next door neighbors do everything from arguing to doing you-know-what. The halls smelled constantly of cigarette smoke, the trash chute, and curry which carried into the apartment.
4. Management office-Inexperienced and high turnover.

I used to love it here but I found I can get the same amenities for my so called luxury apt by purchasing a place in the area. But as with anything, check the place out yourself to make your own decision whether to rent here or not.

I just wanted to respond to this review because I'm more on the negative side of PT as well. I am just over halfway through my lease and I have to say on balance I would not renew. There are several positives having to do with location--I can walk to work and all downtown and near-downtown activities; I can park in the adjacent garage for a price; the building itself has a grocery store, restaurants, though there are long-term vacancies, and a health club. I found the staff overall to be pretty responsive and mostly courteous, and the building seems very secure. The laundry rooms in each tower are very good. I didn't have the problem with internal noise this writer did. I never hear the neighbors, outside the occasional thump when something get dropped. The ventilation system bangs a bit. There are cooking/smoking odors from time to time; maybe that's to be expected in a 20-year-old high-rise. Appliances are NOT up-to-date, at least in my unit, though the bathroom was very nice and the unit itself was in excellent shape when I moved in. The primary noise problem for my tower was the expressway: though I am 34 stories up and block away, it's still a constant if dull roar. Major problem no. 2: waits and crowding on the elevators, especially at peak times. This is really a joke. I also felt I was getting into a building that had more diversity in terms of age. It's mostly bargain-hunters under 30, which can make older residents seeking a long-term residence feel out of place. I'm all for diversity if it's balanced. PT markets itself as affordably upscale and service-oriented, but I would say that's mostly window-dressing. It is affordable, but you're getting what you pay for, and on balance for me the negatives outweigh the positives.
