I am a young professional who works in the suburbs but wanted to live downtown w/ the option of taking a train or driving. I also wanted to spend as little as possible on rent, for me PT has been perfect.
The complex is a block from the train entrance at Union Station, no other building is as convenient. The neighborhood is perfect for me, since the lake is easily accessible, and amenities (grocery store, movie rental, dry cleaners) are all found in close proximity. The amenities in the building itself are nice when you're in a hurry as well.
The maintenance staff, in my experience, is always pretty quick to respond and the security is great. I never have to wait for a cab out front, unless it's blizzarding.
The one downside, the apartments are straight from the 80s. But pretty well kept up I think.
There are a variety of cultures that reside at PT, but I find it enjoyable. I live in Tower 1 and feel no one group is a majority. I rarely hear my neighbors, once in a blue moon I'll smell cigarette smoke in my hallway--but not regularly and NEVER in my apartment.
I really enjoyed the prior mgmt company and am not fully sold on the new one. We would have monthly events, a monthly magazine, the holiday decor is amazing and the new lobby looks great. I myself have really enjoyed living in PT and as long as I'm working in the suburbs I plan to stay there.

UR ON POINT WITH ALL THE POSITIVE FACTS, BUT THE CIG SMOKE U SMELL IN THE HALL WAYS IS PROBABLY FROM PEOPLE LIKE ME. .. IF UR A SMOKER (IN WHICH CASE I AM), AND LIVE IN TOWER 4, U HAVE WALK OUTSIDE THROUGH THE ENDLESS HALLWAYS FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES (JUST BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS SO CHEAP TO PAY FOR 4 DIFFERENT SECURITY DESKS AT EACH TOWER.. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR? cause we all know that the 4 or 5 DOOR MEN THAT THEY HAVE OVER THERE DONT REALLY MAKE ANYONE FEEL SAFE ANYWAY. THEY HIRE YOUNG HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUTS TO SECURE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE JUST HAVE ONE LOCK ON THEIR DOOR AND 4 DIFFERENT EXITS TO THE TOWER WITH ONLY ONE ----EN ENTERENCE.. OH YEAH! THAT MAKES ME FEEL SAFE! AN HOW ABOUT THE GYM CLOSING AT 9 OR 10 PM... EVEN PUBLIC GYMS STAY OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY.. WE LIVE IN A 21ST CENTURY.. PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT SCHEDULES, NOT ALL OF US HAVE 9-5 OR 10-6 SHIFTS... MY KITCHEN CABINETS LOOK LIKE MY GRATE GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE, AND I HAVE A HOLE APARTMENT FULL OF SPIDERS THE SIZE OF MY FIST THAT HANG ON MY WINDOWS OF THE 36TH FLOOR LIKE CHRISTMAS DECOR. ... sorry, this might be great place for some college students that DONT GO TO COLUMBIA COLLEGE! (columbia college has student housing here with 10 year old curfuws and a full inspection by their a.k.a. "master" who is a total junky that gets to live here for free). MUCH MUCH LOVE TO MY FAV PT STAFF:)
