I lived in tower 3 from august 07 til may 08.
I had zero problems whatsoever until I moved out in may. I had to sublease an apt until my lease runs out which it did couple month ago. I wrote email them on last week of September to ask when will I receive the deposit check.
Their response was since they did not know I moved out, It will be processed on october.

WTF they KNEW I moved out on MAY and my CONTRACT RAN OUT ON 8/30. BTW FAT lady who was there when I signed the sublease, told me It will be processed As soon as my lease is over, told me nothing about move out notice when i asked her.

I tried lodging a complaint with Better Business Bureau, to no avail. PT owes me $500 in unused rent and much more for harassment and ill-treatment. Would sure join if someone is taking any legal action against these crooks.

You all crack me up. In most cases if your were to read the legally binding document that you signed i.e. your lease you would find that most likely the company is following the very strict regulations that large managment companies are held to. I know what you are thinking, I must work for the managment company. Well, sorry to burst your bubble but I don't. However, I do work in the industry. What I am gathering from your initial complaint is that you did not fullfill your lease terms. In otherwords, yes your lease may have ended 8/30 but if you did not give written notice to vacate within the time stated on your lease (generally 30 or 60 days prior to your lease end date) at that point your lease automatically renewed on a month to month basis and at a higher rate. This is what would occur in most standard Chicago lease agreements. Its very easy to blame large managment companies but please be sure to read the lease that you signed before publically and anonymously bashing. Everyone must be treated in the same manner per Fair Housing Laws. One exception for one person can jeapardize the companies well being and in turn your future housing needs.

By City law they must give you the deposit back with in 30days!! If they don't they can be held accountable. They cannot hold your deposit for unpaid rent...only for damages to the apartment!

I would suggest that you tell everyone you know to complain to the Waterton main corporate offices: http://www.watertonassociates.com/contactUs.php ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Better Business Bureau has NO authority. (by the way, the number of complaints against Presidential Towers with the BBB has grown drastically since Waterton took over management). If you complain to the corporate office and start talking about taking legal action, you might get some results. ------------------------------------------------------------------ To the individual who started their response with "You all crack me up" ... Do you even live in this property or have you ever even dealt with this management company. This type of complaint has become quite common since Waterton took over management of the property. I myself was threatened with eviction because of a lost rent check, even though I had a receipt. I was initially told that even though I had a receipt it didn't matter because as far as Waterton was concerned I hadn't paid my rent ... WRONG. If Waterton loses my check, that is their fault/responsibility. And this happened coincidently after I contacted the Waterton Corporate office to file a complaint regarding the unprofessionalism of the on-site management staff.
