The management company is greedy and stupid. Rent goes up significantly after your first lease term. Be prepared to pay $200 more than new tenants do for the same kind of apartments. You may consider it only if you are ready to move out once your lease ends as renewal is not good choice.

my rent just went down! i've been here a year and just renewed, and i'm getting a monthly discount now. i think everyone that's renewing now is. this economy is changing a lot but i'm sure glad it made my rent go down $180 a month!

I just moved out last month for the same reason, outrageous rent increase. To any one looking to move in, our rent went from $1999 a month to $2240 for the second year so we moved out. What really pissed me off was they were raising our rent to $2240 while advertising the same unit for $1699. That is how the management company shows residents their appreciation.

You do get one month free, but the monthly rates, which no longer cover heating/ac, are way above the market rates. On average, you end up paying $200 more than their so called market rates. Dont be fooled.

If you threaten to leave, they'll cut you a better deal. The best deal they'd give me was 1.5 months free, but with the new gas bill requirement, that just wasn't a big enough discount.
