I am so tired of living in this place...as you can tell from other reviews this place has totally gone downhill, especially since changing ownership. They cannot fill their apartments, so they are overcharging the current residents for things that used to be included in the rent. They are also charging you an extra month's rent plus $500 if you don't give them 60 days notice at the end of your lease...even a custom lease, just to get that last bit of money from you as you finally get to move out of this place. There are many more negative things to say about this place, which you can read in many other reviews. About the bed bug thing, though, my apartment was inspected for bed bugs just a few months ago, which means that someone in the building has them. I can't wait to get out of here at the end of the month!

Some of the fees that they charge are actually highly illegal. If you are charged $500 plus a month's rent for not giving 60 days notice, that is 100% illegal and you can sue them for it. Your lease is over when your lease is over, end of story, you're not legally obligated to tell them anything, per the Chicago Residential Landlord-Tenant Ordinance. I have told them that they were breaking the law with a few fees they tried to charge me, and they backed down and I saved myself $500 and a legal battle. Just show them you're not stupid and you won't take their illegal fees lying down.
