Sovereign Apartments

It's been fun From: jimsellshomes Date posted: 7/1/2006 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006   2 years ago my wife needed to find a place convenient to Evanston hospital and DePaul University. I mapped out a bunch of available rentals along the purple/redline corridor and we did a bunch of drive bys and checking out of lobbies. Not impressed with anything until we stopped here. We could have found a place with cheaper rent but you get what you pay for. Things we found as positives during her stay. 1) Red line station just 1 block west. 2) 1 block to bus stop on Sheridan to catch the 147 outer drive express bus to Michigan Ave. 3) Downtown Chicago in about 15 minutes via car on Lake Shore Dr. 4) Thai restaurant on premisis. 5) Metropolis Coffee across the street. 6) Located on 3 bike routes and just a few blocks to the lakefront trail path to downtown. 7) We had a wonderful view of Lake Michigan since there are no highrise condos to the east due to a public park on the lakefront. 8) Gated parking lot was well worth the cost. 9) 24 hour front desk attendants. 10) Annual pizza party for guests and cider and cookies in the lobby for holidays. Some negatives we found 1) Bums on Granville by the CTA were annoying. 2) Our car getting damaged when some bozo was throwing stuff out the window of an apartment complex to the north. 3) Trying to find parking when I or guests came down to visit. 4) No public tv antenna on the roof for better tv reception (we could have paid for cable tv but since she only stayed there M to F we passed). 5) Heat registers made noises in the winter. 6) Takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get to I-94. 7) Can't go up to the rooftop deck due to new City of Chicago requirements. I/We would still recommend this building to anyone looking to stay on the north end of Chicago. The rent amount listed includes 1 parking space.
