What can I say that hasn't already been said about this building' It's a beautiful historic landmark. The apartments have high ceilings, hard wood floors, mahogany cabinets, newer black appliances, good sized bathrooms (yes, with big ol' soaking tubs)... and it's right in the Loop, so I can walk 15 minutes to the office. Also, I've had no major problems with the management staff.

Whoever commented that there are no grocery stores nearby is either crazy or on crack. There's a nice big Jewel right off the Roosevelt orange line stop (and gee, you catch the orange line at the Library stop right next door.) There are also two--count 'em, two!--Osco Drugs within very short walking distance (one at Jackson & LaSalle, the other at State & Adams).

There are indeed nifty bars in the South Loop, plus places to eat around here. And shopping' Take a leisurely stroll up State Street. Or there always the big Target store on Roosevelt. Need more' Just catch one of the many buses or el trains practically right outside the Fisher's front door.

My only complaints are that the windows are not soundproof (but I'm able to tune out most outdoor noises anyway) and that the rent is somewhat high (my 3rd year lease saw an $80 rent increase).

Otherwise, I love living here. Out of all the Chicago apartments I've ever rented (and I've rented several from Lakeview to South Loop) my Fisher Building apartment is the first one I've lived in for longer than 2 consecutive years. Believe me, that's saying a lot.

I agree with you completely. However, I posted prior to you and unfortunately for me, I couldn't afford the rent. And, I've found that there are newer (and quite competitive) buildings coming up in the area. The new trend (thank God!) is to include all, or most of, your major utilities, except for Telephone (and washer/dryer in all units). I'm looking forward to those extras.
