I been in the city for 3 years now and have moved around a few times. I am a fairly new tenant of about six months now and I have to say that compared to my previous experiences, I have never experienced such proffesionalism from a property management staff. The concierge staff in this place rocks!!! They have always been attentive to my needs and they are so warm and friendly. I used to live in a building that had a 24 hour doorman, I'd come in with a bagfull of groceries and they won't even hit a button behind their desk to open the door--so as little as this may be, it is hugely refreshing for me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone just moving in to the city as well. You can pretty much walk to everything and the building is gorgeous too--it's got a lot of "flavor"--not your "run of the mill" high rise. I wish I found this place when I first moved in to the city, I definitely would have saved alot of hard labor moving around. I can definitely say that I will be here more than my standard year!

hi there -- I'm moving from NYC and seriously considering living in the Fisher Building. Extraneous noise has been a BIG problem for me in NYC so I'm looking for a fairly quiet place to live. I understand there may be "street" noise at The Fisher (and how bad is it by the way??) But what about your neighbors? Can you hear people in the hallway? Tenants below you? Above you? Would love some honest feedback on this. Thanks!

While the building is in a great location it sits on Dearborn which is a pretty busy street. The El also runs next to the building which does create some noise. I think it depends on which floor you live on as well as which side of the building. We live on a lower level so we do hear quite a bit of street noise between the traffic, sirens, bums, tourists, etc. When we were first moving to the building our unit was not ready yet, so we spent a few nights in a rental on the 17th floor (facing East). For whatever reason the noise from the El was pretty loud in that unit, much noisier than our western facing unit now. Every time the El would pass you would hear a loud CLANK CLANK CLANK...
Also consider that the windows in the building are really old, and let in a fair amount of noise as well. In terms of noise from neighbors it is not bad. I never actually hear the people above, below or beside me. What you do hear is people coming home since the corridors are wide, open and create a lot of noise. But once they go inside their units everything is quiet.
In all honesty I would not consider this a quiet place to live. The neighborhood is very urban and lacks that neighborhood feel that a lot of people want. I love living here and would recommend it, but then again I'm really not bothered by noise.
