1420 Chicago: Blue Whale

Years at this apartment: 1998 - 1999
Although, it has been a few years, I will never forget the HORRIBLE experience I had at the Blue Whale.
1.) Safety: The back door was always unlocked, so homeless people could live in the stairway and laundry room.
2.) The Laundry room had no ventilation, so it was like a rain forest. I went in there one day and a bunch of water was literally dripping from the ceiling, like it was raining in there.
3.) The elevator was very scary. It never stopped on the right floor and if I got within two floors I figured that was good enough and just took the stairs from there. Also, there was pornographic graffiti in the elevator. I remember the elevator smelled so bad, I put a "stick-up" airfreshener in there. Of course it was stolen after a day.
4.) The stairway smelled BAD! I know people urinated in there.
5.) The apartment was totally disgusting when I moved in. There was left over furniture and they covered the black and moldy bathroom floor with a gross carpet.
6.) Maintenance was horrible. Nothing ever got fixed.
7.) We were on the top floor and snow came in through the ceiling.
8.) The place was so cold that we used to leave the oven on in the winter. Which is really dangerous.
9.) They accused us of underpaying rent when we had actually overpaid.
10.) My car was towed from its own spot, which I paid $55 per month for. I had to go to the towing lot and pick it up myself. Management did not tell me that I was supposed to change my parking sticker.
That's all I can think of, but I am sure I had more.
