I was looking to move in during August to attend NU. They agent I got connected with on the phone told me to call back in July. She said that I would not be able to sign a lease in April to rent for the next school year. So, I started calling around to apartments and other apartment locators. Apparently, almost all of the apartments with scheduled openings are already rented for the next school year. All of the apartment complexes were willing to sign leases starting in the summer for the upcoming school year. If I had followed her advice and waited until July to look, then I would have been counting on last minute vacancies and places much further away from school. Luckily, I ignored her and got a great place at a fair price right next to campus.
