Sherman Apartments is the worst management company I've ever dealt with. My family and I lived in an apartment at Foster Str. 829 for about 6 years. In the summer of 2007 Sherman Apartments bought the building and raised the rent per apartment with $200 per month. This was an increase with more then 35%. They forced all of the tenants to move out and those that decided to stay were constantly tortured with construction noise and dust. We complained to the city of Evanston but didn't get any help on the meter at all. At some point the management decided mandatory to move the tenants from one apartment to another. They could not wait until the end of the lease period and started with moving the tenants from the 2nd floor apartments. We all could see families with infants and children with all of their luggage being helped by the management and moved into the renewed apartments for their own good - as Sherman Apartments explained, - to new kitchen cabinets , and of course to much higher rental prise! In the end of December, it was the day before Christmas, when a family that has been renting an apartment on 3rd floor for more then 10 years was informed by Mark Sosenko that will be moved to some other apartment in the building. We were lucky, our lease ended soon and we moved out. I do not recommend you renting from Sherman Apartments.

You failed to mention that the rent increase was due to the fact that they remodeled the apartment, put in a dishwasher, a/c units, refinished the floors and began to provide free internet service. I am happy with the work done on my unit (moving may have been a pain at times) and will be renewing for my fourth year, 2 are post renovation.

Ooo, now the Management is talking... a response one year later... how PATHETIC! I recommend you shut up when you are UNETHICAL to your tenants. The rating stays - NO! - to Sherman Apartments. DO NOT rent by them. /I'm the author of the review above./
