I have lived at the Berkshire of Glen Ellyn for the past two years. I have had a lot of problems with them. Management is very disorganized. The first year I lived here I rented a two-bedroom apartment with a roommate, and it took us over a month of asking them to give us a copy of our lease, and when they finally did give us a copy, I found it in the stairwell on the ground. They didn't even slip it under our door or put it in our mailbox. When my roomate went back to school, I moved into a one bedroom apartment. I've lived here for over a year now and they STILL have not given me a copy of the lease. When I first moved in, it took them 2 days to fix the broken toilet, and 2 weeks for them to unclog the bathtub. Basically when I first moved in I didn't have a working bathroom. It took me months of asking them IN PERSON a few times a week to install a smoke detector before they actually did. In both apartments I've had a lot of COCKROACH problems. It is disgusting. Also, the residents there are not respectful. There are a lot of robberies, and I have seen the cops come more than once. I have seen holes in walls from people punching them, and blood on the walls from all of the bad fights that we have been having lately. There have been a lot of robberies. EVerything is so inefficient. I called them yesterday to ask about my lease AGAIN so that I can see when it was expired so I can move out, and the women who answered checked it and said, "Oh, actually your lease expired at the beginning of the month. Would you like to renew'" They wouldn't even know that my lease was up had I not called and asked about it. I never saw a renewal form.
This place is awful. The water pumps are always being fixed, it seems like once every two months our water gets turned off. Cockroaches are everywhere. For $850/month, these crappy apartments are definitely NOT worth it.

I as a past resident would have to agree. Dont get sold by their million dollar renovations as they calim. They are bug infested & managment is horiabile. Besides the fact they lie to residents all the time. I WOULD RATE THIS PLACE THE WORST TO LIVE EVER. PLZ DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID KEEP LOOKING AND I KNOW THESE APARTMENTS ARE CHEAP BUT THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT.
