I lived at the ole Stoneghetto back in 2000. When I moved in, the neighbors were friendly, my dog has lotsa buddies and the apartment was suitable. Then the management sold the complex, and the new company took over. Things went downward, spiraling quickly. My downstairs neighbor was a Jerry Springer reject. He used to beat his wife constantly, even on christmas morning. She'd leave him and come back, and believe me, the walls were so thin that you could hear every word. He got so mad I wouldn't go on a date with him he made my life a living hell, calling the police for bogus reasons. I went to the management with proof and documentations of what he was doing. They sided with him and his wife, because they were paying their rent through government assistance (commonly known as section 8 or welfare). They asked me to leave when my lease expired. I had no problem, believe me. Come moving day, last trip out was a television set. The bottom stairs crumbled beneath me, and I end up on crutches for 6 months. We had called them months earlier to fix that problem. I tried to settle out of court (I was out of work for 2 months, had large hospital bills, and had no idea how I was going to move considering I was off my feet.) but the management would ------- off, stand up appointments, and it got to the point three months later, I had no choice but to get a lawyer. In the meanwhile, they sent me a $2200 bill instead of my security deposit stating that I had severely damaged my apartment (I have pictures proving otherwise) and tried countersuing me. I finally received a settlement 2 years later, and it didn't even cover the hospital bills which ruined my good credit.
Take it from me, someone who knows what you're looking for in an apartment, this is not for you.
Unless you're in college and like to binge drink on a regular basis and feel the need to be beligerant. You will fit in. Your neighbors will be just like you.
