Ive lived in stonegate for over a year now, i moved in August of 2004 and renewed my lease not too long ago, I live in a one bedroom place and it's small, but not too small. I live in the 549 building and occassionally people are loud but it's never been a problem for me. Ive never seen a roach, rat, or pest of any kind beyond flies and mosquitoes. I havent really tried to get to know any of my neighbors, but I havent noticed anything terrible or ridiculous since ive been here. The cops do drive by often, but there arent chalk lines on the ground or swat teams running through hallways. I see women out with their children all the time and kids catchign school buses by themselves, I dont think I would see that if it were as bad as people have been saying, hoever my place is very close to the entrance so maybe things are worse around the bend, i dont know. As far as saftey, there arent any places with security doors and some of the stairways are out in the open. Ive had a few maitenence problems and the grounds crew were always prompt even at night. They even came out to jump my car once when I left my lights on. I think because of the amount of minorities that live out here, its makes people nervous about safety. There are a lot of latinos that live out here, but ive never had a problem with anyone. Overall I would say that this is a good place if you like to keep to yourself or are just looking for a place to tide over for a year or so. If your big on community involvment or have a growing family you might want to look elsewhere.

I think you're one of the few lucky ones who either was able to get a good apartment or has a good tolerance on bad place to live. I did signed a lease there for only 1 year by myself and I did not had any problems with neighbors or pests. But the smell really bothered me so much that I only spent 6 months there even if I paid the whole year of my lease. I've been to 5 different apartments already (I move from place to place because of my work) but it's only there in Stonegate that I had that problem. As I said, you're lucky to have that good immune system. I just hope that the apartment condition won't have an effect on you in your future. Good luck!
