Great apartments, not so good management

I love living here. The floorplan we have is one of the best -- first floor, with an attached direct access garage. The gym is pretty well maintained. Those two things were the main attractions, in my opinion. The leasing staff is very courteous and professional. The maintenance guys are the best! They took care of whatever problems I had in the apartment right away, and one even gave me recommendations to some good restaurants in the neighborhood! The only recurring maintenance issue is the "security gate" at the entrance to the apartments. They are broken at least 65% of the time!
However, during the eight months that I?ve lived there, of the five leasing staff members that were existent, only two have remained, and there has been no apartment manager for a few months now. Granted, in the day-to-day scheme of things, it doesn?t really matter, but when an issue needs to be brought up to somebody who is "the guy in charge," you find there is nobody.
I loved living at Osprey Lake, but found "the perfect house" to purchase and move into four months too soon. When I tried to break the lease, I was reminded of the two months? rent penalty for doing so, and when I tried to speak with the apartment manager, I got nowhere. I?m a bit frustrated with this experience (two months? rent is a really stiff penalty!), but it *is* something that was explained clearly to me when I signed the lease. I guess I just expected a little bit of grace. Oh well.
However, if you?re looking for a place to stay in while you look for "other housing," look elsewhere, or sign a short-term lease, because although breaking the lease is easy, coming up with the money to do so is not.
