Absolutely Horrible

Let me clarify something. The apartment itself is great. It?s new, clean, and the grounds are well kept. It is the management that is like something out of the Twilight Zone. I moved back in June for a business relocation and had to break my lease. I was told it was necessary to pay the "business clause" amount and I could break my lease with no hassles. Keep in mind my lease was up anyway in only 2 more months. I met with a leasing consultant at Woodlake and was told once I paid the business clause amount I was all set. About a week after I moved I began receiving calls from Woodlake demanding I pay them more money. Money that I didn?t know. When I refused to pay, they send me a letter stating I lived there an additional month and that rent was owed to them. I offered to fax over to them my new lease, moving expenses, canceled check for my new place, and even the inspection sheet from my new apartment. All of these things had the date that I moved in to my new place proving it was impossible that I still was residing at Woodlake. I called them to see what they had to say and received this response, "I don?t know what to tell you. Our computer says you moved out on a different day and that is what we go by". To add insult to injury, the leasing agent that I was dealing with physically saw me move. She was in the parking lot the day of my move (as the movers emptied my apartment!!!!) and even admitted it when I spoke with her about this incident. I can?t tell you how disgusted I am with this whole process and it is not even over yet. They have turned me over to a collection agency since I refuse to pay the amount I don?t owe in the first place. If you decide to live at Woodlake, you need to be very afraid of their management and make sure you get everything in writing. I have never dealt with an organization so focused on turning a profit and so ignorant and cruel when it comes to dealing with the actual people involved.
