I moved in early 2007 and I have been able to tell the difference. When I moved in it was so beautiful and quiet. Too small of closets and not enough countertop space that I have learned to deal with (gave me a chance to throw away a lot of unnecessary stuff). But I guess the section 8 contract came into play around July. There are kids that run in the hallways, bump the walls and slam the doors. When the guardian is approached, she acts just as crazy as the 7 kids. I have witnessed trash in the halls here and there and I always go to the office and complain. They respond pretty fast. My biggest pet-pieve is that when I get home at 4 in the morning from work there is never any parks. I refuse to park and walk 2 buildings away right after work. I have not had any major problems at HLT (knock on wood). If they will stop taking in section 8/low income and parents started caring and raising their kids I think alot of the problems will stop. The fishing pond is beautiful at a distance. There is so much garbage in it (bikes, bottles, etc.) I wouldn't dare eat a fish from it. But its cool to have. In my opinion, what I pay for rent is worth it. Its just the extras (bad-as kids & no parking)you don't expect. If you look at the prices of other apts. in the neighborhood you are possibly going to get a smaller balcony, all utilities NOT included, doggie walking stations and 800sq ft in just a 1 bedroom. Believe me I looked. HLT was the only apt that actually looked like their pictures. And the move in specials.....oh my God they were great. Like I said before, despite the extras, its ok.

section 8 isn't the issue it's people on it that don't care. But than again it's people on section 8 that care about where they live and are not that way so don't down the program dwon the people that don't care about where they live.

Most Definitely not all the tenants that have the sec-8 voucher are rude, ignorant and mature attention providing parents. Yes, I am sorry to say theres some but for the majority a lot of young single woman want a great place to live just like you. And, I believe the only people to blame are the people in the office. They're the ones doing the screening for tenant rent history, tenant background and criminal and credit history. There the ones asking the questions. There the ones that should be able to rule out the irresponsible applicants before giving these people keys to their apartments and acting as if there only concern is about that sec-8 voucher payment. The staff needs to be concern about the tenants that were there before sec-8 and also the ones who are responsible sec-8 holders. The staff needs to realize that they want a peaceful comfortable place to live. But, I guess because they don't have to live there they don't give a crap!! At the end of the day of not carefully screening these people and accepting their monies or vouchers they just throw them in apartments to help their occupancy for their budget for the property.

I just broke my lease at HLT...garbage place to live. The kids there are all crazy just like their parents, threatening my kids lives...and they are in 2nd and 3rd grade! What other elementary school has police patrolling the parking lot after school? What other place has 9 year olds cussing you out in the middle of the street because THEY ran out in front of your car!!! Roach infested buildings, boogers up and down the walls, ignorant office staff. They let the nastiest people move in there who don't give a damn what their kids are in the streets doing. No home training AT ALL!!!! If you like that kind of environment and want all the noise and polution, move right in and love it. Projects!!!

Now, let's look around at the other housing complex???s in the neighborhood of HLT....My point exactly, NO SECTION 8 TENANTS! Response #1 you could be right, there are some that actually care about where they live but they don???t live here. The other 2 complex???s do not deal with the same problems HLT encounters. They actually take good care of their tenants because the tenants take care of the environment around them. You are right Response #2; it all does start with the screening. They claim they screen them good. But if they did we would not have guys standing on their balconies offering weed sales. Response #3, I hear ya. I have seen them get off the bus. They are crazy. But it starts at home. HLT has recently turned for the worse. They are not going in the right direction for a successful future. It hasn't been that bad on my end. But when it does I'M OUT!!!!
