Keeping it real! (Shootings & break-ins)

I really like my apartment, but the complex does have some flaws. First off the Oaks of Willow Hill and the Laurels of Willow Hill are managed by the same people. The complexes are connected and they are basically the same property. So you might want to read the reviews for both. Although this property is probably owned by white people, it is managed by black people, and the community is predominantly black. I am a black woman, and I have observed the ghetto mentality the black folks like to display. Yes, management can be bitchy at times; yes, your hallway may smell like collard greens, fish, dog, etc.; yes, you may find trash in and around your building (the illegal aliens clean the hallways, and the "brothers" clean the outside); yes, there has been break-ins and management has issued letters advising us to keep our doors locked and not to walk alone at night; yes, there has been a recent shooting; yes, there have been many incidents of arson; yes, the apartments are always hot even if you turn off your heat; yes, the washers and dryers are often broken; yes, the walls are thin, and you will hear your neighbors walk, talk, and have sex; and yes, a lot of the people (especially the youth) are ghetto, niggerish, and disrespectful. On the bright side, I can say that I have never seen a roach.
The schools are okay, but they mostly teach what is necessary for the children to keep with the "No child left behind" policy. Therefore, some subjects may be neglected.
I would recommend these apartments to friend. They are a nice place if you need temporary shelter. If you are coming from the inner city, you might think this place is heaven. However, if you are coming from a small town or suburb, you may be disappointed. It all depends on what you can tolerate.

Also, you might want to get a post office box and make sure that Fed-ex and UPS don't deliver without a signature. The mail man is very careless, and items are often placed in the wrong box. If UPS or Fed-ex leave a package at your door or at the main door of your building, you might just find an empty box or nothing at all. So make sure it is insured and request that the shipping service get a signature. Yes, your so-called neighbors will steal your items.
