I have been a long time resident of the sanctuary apartments. Initially we were happy here and now we are kicking ourselves for renewing our lease (again). As time passes it has become obvious that the "rules" change to suite the needs. Rules that at one time were strictly enforced are now ignored. The appearance of the sanctuary has declined dramatically - balconies are being used for storage of containers, toys and bikes, yet, we were required to rent a storage unit for our items.

One of my biggest concerns is the lack of a recyling program and the mounds of garbage that collects. There is certainly a lack of concern for the environment. There is litter everywhere.

As far as management - most of our requests have been responded to, however we've made several requests for a couple of things that have been repeatedly ignored, one concerning a safety issue.

Please watch your back with Ms. ------. She openly criticizes residents using full names and their issues behind their backs. Completely unprofessional conduct in my opinion.

We look forward to moving out of this place when our lease is up. We are very unhappy here.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy living at The Sanctuary and would love the opportunity to make your stay better. Have you talked to me directly regarding your requests and issues? I have an open door policy and strive to make this property the best it can be for all residents. As noted in an earlier response, rules are necessary to uphold our standards and keep the property running smoothly. The Sanctuary does not allow residents to use their balconies for storage and reconcile any issues directly with the residents. Any rules are noted in the lease as well as the resident handbook and are strictly enforced. The staff may not catch ever infraction of the rules but do everything in our power to keep up the property???s appearance. To the author of this response, please feel free to contact me regarding your concerns and I will do my best to resolve them. I would also encourage prospective tenants to drive the property and inspect the balconies themselves. Unlike most communities, we are proud to say that we do allow gas grills! I would also like to add that our community does not allow the space for recycling containers in our corrals. However, the office does recycle and we take our items to the center in Grayslake every week. I would be haapy to include your separated items with our when we go!

----'s in damage control mode now. I'm sure she's got the ownership noticing now. I don't think anyone can say this is just some smear campaign. I've noticed a few people in and out of that office since last year. When people leave, I'm sorry, that puts up a warning flag for me. Something's not right. I just wish the owners would take notice. Unless they're just as incompetent as the manager is. Love these responses. Talk about phony as all hell.

The justifications from management are laughable. What makes this concern so false is the fact that the concerns/complaints have all been expressed to staff in person - more then once. And, yes, it is unavoidable to "drive the property" (after all there are not that many ways out of the complex) and that is how things are noticed by the residents. Is it necessary to announce via this website the apts that are violating the rules??

----, obviously you're not approachable. I see post after post on this website with complaints and frustrations with you and your staff. The only reason you're on this website is to look like you do "care" and to show your manager you've made an "effort". Have you ever stop to think the reason many residents have decided to use this format is simply because our concerns are not addressed by you. We're just getting the word out there that living at The Sanctuary of Lake Villa is lackluster. You just don't get it, do you?
