Expensive, But Overall Enjoyable

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
We have lived at the Landings for two years and are now buying a townhome. We have enjoyed our stay at the Landings very much. We looked at almost every apartment building in the area before choosing the Landings.
The apartments are a little overpriced, but you get what you pay for. It's the small details that make our apartment feel nice -- crown molding, white 6-panel doors, archway to living room.
Yes, the apartments are near the high school and the train tracks, but we were never bothered by either. I actually enjoyed listening to the high school football games in the fall.
As for Lake Zurich, we love it here. We are a recently married couple in our 20s with no kids yet and we found plenty of things to do. No, there aren't a lot of hot night spots, but you can go to Schaumburg or Downtown if you want that.
It is true that most of the neighbors keep to themselves, but we didn't mind that. It's also true that the floors seem to be thin. If possible, try to get a 3rd floor apartment. The only major complaint we ever had were our upstairs neighbors who could be very loud at times and also liked to drip grease from their gas grill onto our deck. The 3rd floor is the way to go!
As for the staff, they were always very friendly and courteous to us--never a problem. When I couldn't figure out how to install the ceiling fan we bought, the maintenance guy came over and did it for me when I was at work--for free!
We never had problems in the winter with snow removal. They were always out there early in the morning when it snowed overnight.
Overall, a great place to live. But with interest rates so low, it's time to buy!
