For my first apartment this was one of the worst experiences in my entire life. The elevators had graffit written all over it and CONSTANTLY smelled of urine. I felt like I was in Cabrini Green. Very few of the parents knew how to control their children. The "children" on my floor ran back and forth...back and forth all day long. When I came home late at night, there were thugs hanging all outside the building. In addition, the front door??s buzzer was broken on several ocassions.
The only good thing about Edgewood was that the apartments were spacious.
I only lasted a year and highly recommend that you STAY AWAY!!!!
YOU CAN TAKE EM OUT OF THE PROJECTS, BUT YOU CAN??T TAKE THE PROJECTS OUT OF THEM!!!!

I'm curious to know which building this writer is referring to. I moved into Edgewood fall of 2005 into a brand new building and I have not experienced any of the things that the previous writer has expressed. The grounds are very well kept and even though there are quite a few children in the area, I have not experienced a "free fall" and rarely see children playing near the buildings and or hanging out. As with anything there is good and bad in everything, there are a few tenants who do have "project mentalities" but you can't change anyone's mentality as long as you don't have one. I think of Edgewood as a decent environment, the units are spacious and very comfortable for families. All of the tenants that I have encountered are working class people and take pride in their families as well as their Residence. The one area I see the need for improvement is there are a few Office staff people that are in my opinion very unprofessional. For the money that it cost to live here you would like to think that the staff would reflect the developement.

I do not remember what building. I never had a problem with how the grounds were kept. I had a problem with people hanging outside the doors when I came home at night and the only response I got from the leasing office was to call the police. There were several instances that I would look outside my window and see someone leaning on my car. I had a problem with people letting their pets urinate in the elevator. Yes, the apartments are spacious, but I like to feel reasonably safe leaving and entering my home. This is not what I experienced. Please remember I lived at Edgewood from 2001-2002. Hopefully, they have changed since then. If you are enjoying your experience, you are one of the lucky ones. I do not take any shorts when it comes to customer service. If I go to a restaurant on a consistent basis and they do not get my order right, I will not come back. I would not pay a car note for a car that did not operate correctly. As a working class individual, if I am shelling out $700-$800 per month in rent, I expect impeccable customer service, a clean and safe environment with minimal noise (yes children will make noise, but contain it to your apartment or the play ground). When it comes to the place I live, I will not take any shorts. |
