Genuinely Surprised At How Much I Love It Here

Well, I moved in February of this year after much hesitation reading the reviews on this website, and I really don't understand where the bad ratings come from. I live in 2 BR that was noisy from the expressway for the first month, but they did some construction and in a few weeks, there's a sound barrier up. Now, no more noise.

We did have to call maintenance one time when the dishwasher got clogged up, and they came right away and fixed the problem within an our.

I have seen absolutely NO kind of rodents or insects inside the buildings and the people here are very friendly. Reading the comments, I've seen that there are a few people who complain about garbage on the laundry room floors, but that garbage is always in the form of large boxes (often disposed of after moving) that cannot fit in the garbage chute. Whenever I've seen the boxes though, maintenance has them cleared away by the next day. Maybe I just live on an incredibly clean and quiet floor, but I've never had a complaint.

I've never witnessed children running down the halls unsupervised or vicious dogs on the loose. I've seen groups of kids playing on the basketball courts or holding doors open for me when I'm approaching the door. I feel safe seeing security checking on every floor of the building once (and sometimes twice) a day, just to make sure all is well. And the dogs I've seen are mostly small poodles or shitzus being walked by their owners.

These are my two complaints:

1. There's a lot of people who don't pick up after their dog when they take them out....really gross, but you'll find that anywhere.

2. There are mud tire tracks outside on what would be a beautiful lawn from people moving in and out and pulling their large moving trucks right up to the building. That really does need to stop, but I've noticed in the last few days signs up and security telling the people to move off the lawn.

Overall, I'm happy I chose to go with my gut and ignore the ratings because my experience here has been great. I'm in love with my apartment, the office staff has always been very helpful, and my neighbors are friendly.

Management must have paid you to say this. Edgewood/Riverwood has gone to the dogs. I hope they kick out all the ungrateful folks and move in working-class people who care about the upkeep of their property.

They didn't pay me to say this. That should be obvious from the fact that I also listed a couple complaints. I was honest in my review because I am interested in helping people with honest reviews to make an informed decision. Maybe it's because I lived in a few different apartment buildings in the city and I know how awful it can be. Maybe I just live in a very clean, quiet building. It still is the case one year later. The only thing I'd like to amend is the part about garbage on the laundry room floors. Sometimes it does happen. I haven't seen it too often, but I have seen it. It is gross and often blocks the way to the chute. However, this is the residents fault...not the fault of the complex. I do know, though, that when someone does that and you can see an address through the bag, they'll send you a later and warn you next time you do it you'll get fined. It happened to one of my neighbors when she couldn't get to the chute because other bags were on the floor. So, they are trying to do something about it. I still have not seen any rodents or insects besides the usual in the summer (flies, mosquitos, etc) who can get into the cleanest house. Most of the dogs are small, still have had no problem with kids. Yes, I'm sure there a handful of people who could care less about the upkeep of the property (like those that drive on the lawns when they move in/out), but you'll find those anywhere.
