Overall great place to live

I've lived at Green Trails for nearly a year now, & have been very satisfied with my decision to move here. This complex is managed by Marquette Management, whom I deem a very worthy management company. All of the communities I've ever seen that they manage have consistantly been a step above the rest.
While there are many different models to choose from, the whole complex is not so large that you become a nameless face with management. Furthermore, if you do have anything that requires maintenance assistance, your request is handled in a timely manner.
I live in a building on the outside of the complex (facing Benedictine University), so from a noise perspective I can only speak from my own experience. I live on the third floor & hardly ever hear anything from the two neighboring units. I have a great view overlooking the landscaping, pond & the field across the street. The landscaping throughout the complex is very well taken care of & sets this community apart from others in the area.
Parking closest to your secured entryway may be scarce later in the evening, but its rare I have to walk too terribly far. Garages are available for an additional $100 per month, which I just couldn't bring myself to spend. I might have thought twice about it if they cost less & were individual units instead of having to share them with a complete stranger.
While I don't have a pet of my own, they are allowed on the premises for an extra pet deposit. The complex has doggie bag dispensers throughout, which people make use of pretty diligently. The complex restricts by breed & not by size, which is nice because if you have a well-behaved large breed you won't be shut out based solely on your pet's size.
The in-unit washer & dryer is a nice amenity, although the stacked versions really don't allow for much in each load. I found I would get a lot of laundry back-up often, but then again I'm a girl & have way too many clothes as it is! The convenience sure beats having to rustle up quarters for machines or having to lug around heavy baskets of dirty clothes.
I've only ever found bugs in the unit a handful of times, mainly those flat silverfish ones & these other small black bugs I couldn't determine the name of. You can call as often as you like to have your name put on the list for bug spraying every first & third Thursday of the month. I only decided to do this one time & it was painless. It resolved the bug issue immediately for me.
I live alone in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit. The master bedroom is quite large with a decent-sized walk in closet. There is a door to the bathroom off the master, as well as the hallway. (This always seems to confuse guests!) The second bedroom has a decent-sized closet, but with a queen bed there is not a lot of room leftover for other furniture besides maybe a bedside table. This worked fine for me, as this room served only as a spare for out of town guests.
The bathroom was fine for just one person. My only complaint (and it sounds like an odd one) is the tub enclosure creaks like you wouldn't believe! It was quite the shocking discovery the first time I showered there, but I quickly mastered the fine art of standing completely still while showering & still being able to get clean! I believe this problem is fairly widespread, as one of the only things I ever hear coming from my one neighbor's unit is that old familiar creaking.
The living room is pretty large. I had a sofa & loveseat with end tables, coffee table, entertainment center & bookshelf in mine & it all fit comfortably & looked & felt spacious still. I love the large picture windows in the living room & bedrooms.
I also like how instead of a sliding glass door leading out onto the balcony, it's a french door. It takes up less wall space & allows for more flexibility when arranging furniture. The balcony is decent-sized & offers external electrical outlets for holiday decorations. The roof extends over this space, making it possible to sit outside even when raining (if you so choose).
There is a large storage closet off the interior building corridor which is great for storing larger items you don't need all the time. It could even accommodate a bike & still allow for plenty other storage.
At least in my building, there seems to be a lot of young business professionals living here. I have no noise complaints. The building construction is pretty well sound-proof from floor to floor, unit to unit, unit to interior building corridor.
I tried to give the most accurate & thorough description of my experience with Green Trails apartment complex. A few other perks of the complex are the complimentary continental breakfast M,W,F every week; 24hr fitness center; $6 AMC movie theater tickets (for movies at least 2 wks old); free golf passes every week in the summer (with additional passes for a discounted rate as well); inexpensive cable/internet through a company affiliated with the complex (with very good channel selection & high speed internet); & different events/gatherings hosted by the complex throughout the year. They have a resident appreciation week, during which they give all the residents a little care package. This year's had a Green Trail's water bottle & candy.
I realize my review may sound like it's coming straight from management, but I genuinely have been so pleased with my decision to move here & wanted to share my experience with potential residents. I would encourage you to take negative reviews with a grain of salt, and remember that the positive reviews can be bias as well. I looked at several places before deciding to call Green Trails "home" & I would advise others to do the same. There might be another complex out there that suits your individual needs/desires better. For me, I intend to stay here until I'm able to afford to buy my own place. I'd recommend to friends & family alike.
