Not that bad!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I just moved out of the Lakeside Apartments, and although there were the occasional issues, most of them I chalk up to non-luxury apartment living. I lived in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit for one year. The noise was never excessive - occasionally I heard the upstairs neighbors, but that is to be expected on the ground floor. The one thing I did not like was the kitchen - it was so tiny, and there was no counter space. You had to do all your cooking prep work out in the dining room on the table, which was murder on the carpets. But everything worked fine - our garbage disposal broke once, and was fixed promptly. Maintenance was always prompt and courteous - once it rained badly and our unit flooded, and there were 2 guys there at 3:00 in the morning pumping out the water trying to save the carpets.
About the office staff, you just have to be firm with them. I found that occasionally, they tried to get away with things, and what worked was to send another person from the unit over to play "tough guy". For example, my roommate used a wheelchair, which leaves some dings and dents in a wall. Upon moveout, I was told we would have to patch up and fix those ourselves or pay for them. My roommate and I thought that was ridiculous, so she went over there and got a little snippy with them, and they took it back.
For the price, it is an acceptable place to live.
