Not worth it!!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I lived at Lakeside for one year. Initially it seemed like a great deal. A newly remodeled apartment for a decent price. I should have known better.
1. Within the first few weeks the cops had been at my neighbor's apartment numerous times (once they were there 3 times in one weekend!). You would also frequently see cop cars drive through the complex. I'm not a snob but I am really surprised at the quality of people who live in this "luxury" apartment community. The headache and frustration caused by my neighbors was enough to make anyone cry. Yelling, loud music, fights in their apartment, screaming, cops, trash they left all over the front of the property, etc. I complained numerous time and they kept claiming they were "trying" to get these particular people evicted. They finally DID move out........A month before my lease was up. I had one peaceful month!
2. Parking is also something you have to be very, very aware of. It's HORRIBLE. If you come home after 5 or 6pm you will not be able to park near your apartment. It was beyond annoying. They plain and simple do not have enough parking spots to cover all their residents. I made sure I only went grocery shopping on days/times I knew parking would be available.
3. There are 3 bedroom apartments (which I did not realize) in the community so there are LOTS of noisy kids running all over the place. The only time I would go to the pool in the summer was before noon. If you stayed after that expecting a relaxing afternoon at the pool forget about it. Loud kids running all over the place, splashing everywhere, playing with inflatable pool balls that they hit you with. I don't mind children playing but their parents clearly don't have any control over them and don't teach them manners.
4. Laundry machines: Only 2 per your side of the building. I actually only ran into a problem with this once. However, the machines did break down frequently and everytime I called Lakeside's maintenence number I never received a call back. I finally called the leasing office directly and was told I had to call the laundry machine company to get the problem fixed. Everytime I did call the company direct I had the hardest time getting anyone to come out for a service call. They claimed that they kept losing my work order. How on earth are residents supposed to be the ones in charge of calling the laundry company to get a machine fixed'! Isn't that why we rent'' So we have a leasing office/maintenence to take care of things like this' I also should mention you will have go outside to get to the laundry room. It was SO much fun doing laundry in the winter......Bundle up.
4. I lived in a 2 floor building and the new wood stairs they installed are horrible. I understand there's certain building codes that need to be met with incline and whatnot but if you lived on the 2nd floor and wanted to go to the 1st floor to the laundry room and it was raining, you and your laundry would get wet because the roof doesn't fully cover the stairs. Also, the stairs get slippery when it rains so be careful. Once I fell down the last few steps. Not cool.
5. Lastly is the issue with rent. I started renting my 1 bedroom at $819. When my lease renewal paperwork was sent to me they jacked up my rent over $100. Basically, I was intially tricked into a remodeled apartment at the old rent rate and then they raised it come lease renewel time. I understand rent raising but this was flat out deceiving.
