We didn't like it here.

Lisle Place seemed like a very nice apartment with very friendly staff until the day we turned in our application. Before submitting the paperwork, we checked with them to find out what we needed since we were relocating from another state and changing jobs (thus a change in our employment history) and made sure we met each of their requirements. We, in turn were told, that their speaking to my employer to verify my employment was not good enough for them. We needed a faxed letter verifying our employment and salary. Our employers provided the requested letter, and both were turned down by Jennifer and Maggie. Since my employer did not have a fax machine and therefore had to either mail or drop off the letter, "it must not be a real business because all real businesses own a fax machine." Since my husband's letter was not submitted on his company's letterhead his job was "not a real business" either. Lisle Place even refused to run our credit and past rental history. They actually suggested that we "live in a hotel for a month" until we have paycheck stubs that could verify our employment. We decided on Lisle Place because it was in our budget. Renting a hotel (and finding one that allows our two cats) was not an affordable alternative, nor was finding a place to house all of our belongings while we waited for that paycheck stub.
About 10 minutes after we called our current landlord and asked them to fax over a reference, they apologized profusely for the misunderstanding, and assured us they would run our application right away. We were approved within an hour and were finally able to move in. The apartments were spacious and relatively neat. After 13 months, thats about all I can say for them. The maintenance staff never fixed anything right the first time and left much to be desired as did the bugs all throughout the apartment. They actually TOLD us that the exterminator made regular visits (which he did not). The grounds always had trash on them. The controlled access to the building was useless because the neighbors kept propping open the door defeating the security purpose of this feature.
It was not until our truck had been broken into the second time in only a couple of months and we were filing a police report, that we found out that the police were not strangers to Lisle Place. In fact, while they were there, the neighbors that never seemed to be around before all of a sudden all came out to report problems. At least 2 more cars were broken into within the past day or two, tires had been slashed, bicycles stolen, and just about anything else you can possible imagine. Lisle Places response was not even to return our phone call. The common areas always smelled of alcohol and pot. Despite their policy that says use of illegal drugs will result in eviction, they also ignored us each and every time we reported our neighbors for smoking pot. In fact, they still hadnt done anything when we had our neighbors friends walking into our apartment because they were too stoned and/or drunk to realize where they were. We were forced to call the police yet again to our wonderful place of residence. We stayed only as long as our lease mandated. If you live in-state, have paycheck stubs to verify your employment, dont mind your car being broken into, and dont mind dealing with all the countless other problems, you might enjoy living at Lisle Place. But it was definitely not for us.
