I have to say that when I initially moved here in 2005 I was excited.....I mean $815 for a 2 bedroom with heat included was a real bargain, especially for the location. I wasn't that impressed with the grounds or the buliding itself, but the apartment itself was met my basic needs. In 2006 they decided to raise the rent to $850, but I was okay with that as long as the utilities were still included; even though I had smells coming into my apartment from various apartments, even though the elevator is identical to a CHA elevator (on a good day), even though there did appear to be a slight bug problem, even though they bascially regulate your guest/visitor parking (fomr July 2-5 you can FORGET about having anyone over at all), I was still willing to put up with it. However in 2007, not only did they raise the rent...again, but they also decided to make the tenants pay for 85% of their gas, water, sewer usage, but this 85% isn't based on your apartment use....its based on the total use in the building and that amount of square feet you have in your apartment; in essence regardless of how conservative you may be with your gas and water, if you neighbors across the hall have 5 people living in their apartment and choose to run the heat at 80 degrees (the apartments are EXTREMENT drafty) all day, you are paying for that. This was ultimately the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF THIS LEASE! To raise the rent 10% over the course of 2 years and not make a single upgrade to the apartments or building, makes you wonder where the money is really going.

*update* April 30, 2008
So I've received my utility bill for the month of March.....and its another $115. I do not understand their billing system, especially when I only had the heat on for 17 days (set at 65 degrees mind you). Oh yeah...just found out that the property owners have been given approval to build some additional townhomes w/garages. WOW!!! I cannot WAIT to see how much the rent/utilities go up now! Is it August yet''''''
