Possible Reasoning

Personally, I just recently drove by these apartments in search of finding a place to live, myself, and it appears pretty much run down. I hear people talk of the company raising the rent, and not upgrading anything.

My theory of their reasoning for raising the rent is to get the "ghetto" out of these complexes. It's about time someone stepped up and did something.

In a previous message, someone was comparing these complexes, and the people who dwell in them, to Carbini Green.

Let me give you something to think about... "Do you actually think that "ghetto" people are going to treat anyone elses property with respect' I hear of juvenilles having intercourse on premises, people getting chased out and told to cut their lease, cops being called on the tenants... Come on, lets get real for a minute. The only thing any "ghetto" people really care about is the cleanliness of their Nike Air Force Ones and how much dope they can score. Do you think they would maintain an upgrade that they are renting from their landlord' It's unfair that the people deserving of an upgrade probably get thrown into this cess pool of bullsh!t.

I commend their decision in raising the rent to get rid of the rats (a.k.a. moochers of society). This is the one thing they can do that will not discriminate against anyone's race/ethnicity, age, or gender.

Bottom line, accept it. It's called reality. Go back to your momma's house and continue to live "hood rich". Give B & A a break!

My fiance, myself, and her son lived in these dumps for one VERY long year. The rent was comparable to any other two bedroom apartment in the area. We paid nearly $1000 per month two years ago to live in a ghetto like environment...certainly no deal. There were some normal, working, contributing members of society living there at the time, but there were also numerous Section 8 dirt bags as well. Raising the rent will not stop them from living there as they have never paid for their own rent anyway. The people that go to work everyday and pay taxes have taken care of all their housing needs. Oh, and B&A can kiss my ass. They are the worst management company we have ever dealt with.

I would highly encourage you to go back and read the post that I (the poster prior to you) left. Aside from the pitiful excuse of an elevator, I made no mention of Cabrini Green, the ghetto or any of that, so please be sure of what you speak about before you get on your soapbox. I agree that often times landlords raise the rent as a "weed out" process so to speak, but, as a professional woman, I am definitely not one of those that need to be weeded out. I pay my rent on time, EVERY TIME. I've NEVER had complaints about me, my guests, or anything relating to my apartment. It seems to me like you may be an employee of B&A....and I only say that because you seem so offeded at my comments and the one left by other tenants. It's so easy to pass judgement on something when you are not even a tenat! I grew up in some of those "ghettos" in the city that you, obviously, know NOTHING about, but I was one of the few that was able to stay focused on getting out. I have a degree (from a big Ten school I may add) and I'm working on a master's degree. My issue is not with the rent being raised...it's with the attitude and the manner in which things are done. I have no problem with a "weed out" process, but at the same time good tenats should NOT be penalized for the managements poor judgement, which is essentially what is happening.
