the first day i moved in, i leaned against a bedroom wall and my knuckles went thru the drywall. the window had been leaking for years which rotted the wood and they just painted over it. they have not fixed this or the leaking window yet. there is no air conditioning for all practical purposes. the 'air conditioner' wall unit is older than i am, has never been cleaned, smells like something died in it, and blows warm air. my balcony door has been busted for months and they wont fix that either. there is one (and only one) rental guy who works here who couldnt care less what goes on. there is one (and only one) maintenence person. the night before i moved out i sat outside and watched the police seize a brick of cocaine from my downstairs neighbors apartment, who were also illegal immigrants. someone found a dead rat in the ceiling tiles in the laundry room - that smelled nice this July. speaking of which, i'm 6'2" and weigh 200 pounds and i wont go into that laundry room at night by myself... not that the machines work anyway. there are abandoned cars, boats, and various pieces of furniture in the parking lot. the garbage outside overflows weekly. people now throw garbage right into the hallway and leave it. this also smelled nice this July. both security doors are broken as are a few windows. electric sucks, appliances suck, there is one phone jack in the entire apartment. sinks leak, the toilet leaks, there were things growing in my shower that were immune to all chemical warfare. i suppose this would be a great place to live if you were big into drugs, since there are plenty of those in this complex. illegal immigrants and their 65 relatives are also welcome here. i would suggest buying a car alarm and some mace before you move in, mouse traps, and a case of RAID. i stayed here for four months before i could not take it anymore. ive seen nicer cardboard boxes for rent on lower wacker drive.
