Positive experience

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I have lived at IV going on 2 years and my husband and I are pleased with it and will be renewing our lease for another year. We live on the 2nd floor of one of the 2 buildings that allows dogs.
sidenote: I do not have any connection with the apartment office, I honestly have had a good experience at these apartments!
I feel like the inside of our apartment building is very clean. It seems like there is a maid cleaning/vacuuming the foyers on a daily basis, and they have been good at keeping the open areas/stairwells freshly painted and well kept.
Also, I feel safe when walking out to the parking lot late at night. We live across from the tennis courts and it is very well lit at night and never creepy.
There are lots of families with small children and people are always outside with their kids on the sidewalks in good weather. There are gas grills and picnic areas all around the apartment property, which is kind of nice. People enjoy using the park like facilities and the club house seems to be a popular hangout for young adults/middle schoolers playing ping pong or pool.
Since we live on the 2nd floor, we feel that we have very good insulation in the winter. We didn't need to turn on our heat until around mid-november when it really started getting chilly at night. We have also never had a problem with bad plumbing or not getting hot water for showers.
The maintenance crew is also very good. I do wish that there was a balcony, but that's just personal preference.
Parking by our place is great. There's always spots open, we have three vehicles and it's never been a problem.
Less positive things, but hardly anything worth moving out for include:
I have noticed that sometimes the 1st floor of our building smells like cigarette smoke. But I've never seen people actually smoking in the entrance areas.
Occasionally we can hear our downstairs/upstairs neighbors music, but it's infrequent and hasn't been a problem. Have not had a problem with children running around in the apartment. People keep to themselves but are friendly.
When we first moved in, part of our dining room carpet smelled like cat pee, so we notified the office and they replaced the whole dining room carpet. The smell was only noticeable when standing directly over it, and they had it replaced within 1 week of our complaint
Laundry situation: Pretty good. It's $1.35 for wash and $1.25 for dryers, I believe. Which adds up fast. There is one laundry room for our 3 story building. We live just down the hall from it. It is well lit and clean. 6 wash/ 6 dry. Usually, I just do all 6 loads at once, during the middle of the day and there's nobody around. But even at busier times, it hasn't been a problem.
The first summer after we moved in we had some problems with our air-conditioning not working. The furnace/central air unit did look like it had been through alot, but the maintenance guy, Walter got it running again with no problems.
These apartments have been here since the 70's, but they have up to date appliances, fixtures and nice cabinets and countertops. Also big walk-in closets in the 2 bedroom.
Overall, enough of my babbling, if someone is looking for a quiet, safe, affordable, clean place to live this is it, I haven't been dissapointed.
