I only signed a lease for these apartments because the ones right next to the college were full. This is an old junky motel that they turned into apartment. They are dirty very used and they stink! This isn't just student housing. There were also scary adults living here. The cops were called out here alot for domestic fights and my mom looked it up and said 3 sex offenders live in the trailer court across the parking lot!!! I made sure to get signed up for the apartments right next to the college my 2nd year. They are on Laker Ave and they were great. I couldn't believe the difference. They were like new! I think they are only 5 years or so old. It was also great to be surrounded by all LLC students. I made great friends and loved living there. Just make sure you get signed up soon there because they fill up very fast and there isn't much a selection in Mattoon for college students.

I lived at the apartments that were renovated from an old motel and the kitchens were brand new, all the carpeting had been replaced and they were 1/2 the price of the units next to the college. The made all repairs in approx. 24 hrs. I lived there when I went to Lakeland for 2-yrs then I stayed for my next 2-yrs at EIU the drive to Charleston was only about 10 minutes. My neighbors were quite and the only time I saw police were when they patroled the area. Why would you sign a lease for a dirty apartment?????
