I would NEVER reccommend this community

2/2009 Update:
I agree with this post. I lived at Forest Cove for 18 months. I have since moved out. The windows leak so much cold air even if they are whole. All repairs made to the apartment were made by yours truly! Their professional carpet cleaning is a joke. There is dog ---- everywhere, junk cars sitting everywhere. 4 dumpsters per trash area, all are empty and trash spills into the parking lot and blows about the property (because people are too lazy to open the dumpster.) The intercom system has never worked, the cable, phones and internet works speratically because the cables are run outside, above ground and have been chewed by animals. There are raccoons, squirels and god knows what else running in the ceilings at night. The bathroom vent spills smoke and the smell of grease from other peoples' apartments. The tar actually runs down the walls when you shower, we did not smoke. They do not scoop the snow, instead in certain areas they put down so much salt you cannot walk animals in the area, and you track white foot prints into the building, yet the snow and ice remains. We called the Village Fire Marshal because the emergency lights and fire system are defective. They visited 2 times and they issue was never resolved, the emergency lights actually hang from the walls in some hallways. There is water leakage into the stairwells coming from who knows where. The police are ALWAYS there, in multiples, usually at dinner time. I moved in and was so disgusted by the property from the start, they raise rent every year and make no improvements. This place is the biggest whole in the Village. It is right across from Famous Freddy's and the parking lot is used as overflow parking and attracts a lot of unwanted activity.
I also looked at The Mansions, anything north of Algonquin is going to get better the farther north you go. The fact is a lot of the complexes in the are are old. Make sure you walk through and visit more than one unit. Be nosey, poke around, drive through at various times of day and call the police department-speak with them about the area and activity.

Upon move in:
We chose this apartment based on these ratings. It is hard to believe because disgruntaled tenants and dishonest apartment employees post false reviews. I contacted the Mount Prospect Crime Prevention Unit to ask some other questions they had good things to say. We are satisfied having chose an apartment without seeing it first. We moved from Lincoln, Ne without seeing or knowing anything about Mount Prospect.
Our apartment is so quiet, our bedroom especially, we have O'Hare traffic overhead and for the most part it doesn't bother us. I like that we are on a busy street and not too far off of another and we don't hear the traffic or the other complexes. Maintenance fixed all of our requests when we moved in. Our one bedroom has one wall air conditioner unit in the livingroom and a ceiling fan in the dining room, a fan in the hallway moves the cold air into the bedroom nicely. There could be more cabinet space but we put up a metal utility rack along one wall in the kitchen. LOTS of closet space, nice sized balcony, clean bathroom, nice light fixtures. The place has been updated to look nicer. I wish the carpets would have been professionally steam cleaned when we moved in. I feel like the were cleaned with one of those circular shampooers that doesn't suck anything out. The carpet IS clean, no spots or holes, just a little stretched in places. Normal wear and tear. (BUT we have a puppy so I'd rather this carpet than brand new carpet for her to potty on. So I can live with it.) Our security box outside doesn't work but someone is supposed to come fix it.

We moved in without walking through the apartment once so for what my fears were, it is pretty nice. No mice or bugs. There was even an icecream get together in the club house. Staff all pleasant. I have seen a few get togethers on balconies and things but nothing too wild, too loud or too late. People seem to pick up after their animals too. Once I got all of my personal effects into the space I liked it a lot!
