To whom it may concern,

My wife and I spent some time looking for an apartment in the southern Chicago area, We narrowed the choices to just 2 and ultimately just one of your properties. The individual who walked us thru and showed us apartments twice was great. We explained our situation and filled out an application.

This is where it gets ugly. The primary reason we had to relocate to Chicago was because my wife got downsized out of her job. For her to make the kind of money she is used to she accepted the only one she could find in Chicago. Hence we were forced to make arrangements with the apartment complex we were/are currently residing in to give notice and make arrangements to pay their lease-breaking fee. Important , this was already setup with our current landlord before we even looked for a place in Chicago. This info was told to your rental agent as was the fact that my wife would be in Chicago by herself the first month as I have loose ends to tie up back home and we had to pay Novembers rent anyways. After all the background here we go. Your office manager calls me and notifies me that if I haven't paid my lease breaking fee to my current landlord they will not even process our application. (We had payment arrangements already in place but were told that didn't matter), I'm not so angry about your policy as I am with the way your employee presented it to me as if I was going to delibretely stiff my landlord. Her comments were extremely demeaning and at one point I had to tell her that I didn't like or appreciate her attitude. Needless to say things went downhill from there. Over the next day and a half we jumped thru every hoop your people placed in front of us. There were far too many, they would call us and say they needed this employment verification on my wife, then they needed my back taxes, then they needed us to pay our current landlord for November's rent today the 16th of October or they couldn't approve us. Each of these situations and more were doled out to us one by one in the same condescending and smug attitude that our first conversation contained. Ultimately we were told that as soon as the rent check cleared at our current apartment's bank we would be approved.

Let me say this, I own my own business here in Ohio and have never been treated so poorly or shabbily by anyone in my life. I cannot believe a company such as yourself would condone this type of customer treatment. If my wife had not absolutely loved the apartment and site it was located on we would have given up and gone with our second choice. My wife and I are both professionals, she is in management and we both deal with the public every day. If I treated customers the way I was treated I wouldn't have prospered in my business ventures.

Not to tell you how to do your job or run your business, but I would suggest you having "dummy" clients go to your places and go thru the application process, see how they are treated. Probably though you have had complaints about this individual already and I hope thuis letter adds to those prior complaints. I will reveal the complex and people involved after I have a response from you and we sign our final papers, I don't want these truths to cost my wife the apartment she wants. I also hope the rest of the employees at this site are better suited to dealing with the public.
