If You Like Poor Snow Removal, Common Areas that Smell Like Dead Animals, and Shoddy Maintenance - Rent Here
From: CheshireCat7Date posted: 10/30/2008
Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I lived @ BS for 2 years. The first year was just fine---convenient location, attractive units, etc. Then on New Year's Day 2008, I decided to put my rent check in the drop box and fell in the snow and ice that had not been removed from the sidewalk. It was snowing heavily that day and apparently maintenance had the day off. I ended up on crutches and spending my New Year's Day in the emergency room. The apartment's insurance company got in touch with me and proceeded to tell me they would pay my out of pocket but that the lack of snow removal was not the property's fault''' I missed 3 days of work and incurred undue hardship and not so much as an acknowledgment, apology, nothing! Then, the stupid twits in the rental office called to tell me they never got my rent check - the rent check I injured myself placing in the drop box! I even brought the rental office a copy of the money order to prove I had paid it. They claimed they never got it. They insisted I get a replacement to them right away. The problem is that it was a money order so I had to drive to my bank while in pain and on crutches to get this resolved.
A few months later I began to notice what smelled to me like vomit but apparently was Indian food my neighbor insisted on cooking permeating the hallways. It seeped under my door and into my apartment. It was embarassing to have guests over. I complained numerous times to the rental office and cited the lease which states, "no cooking with pungent spices." All they did was send a letter out to everyone but the smells persisted as did complaints by me and numerous other tenants.
Lots of kids live here too, so if you are a professional and/or in school like myself good luck getting any work homework assignments completed here.
They also promote the business office to apartment seekers - please know that in the 2 years I lived there, never did a printer work for more than a month at a time.
Lastly, I have major complaints with the maintenance. I had recurring issues with toilet and sink clogs. Maintenance would come in and do a quick fix for something that was obviously a bigger issue. Also, at the end of my living there I locked myself out of the building and out of the apartment. It was 10pm. I called maintenance who always is supposed to have someone on call for emergencies; a lockout per the rental office voicemail, is an emergency. I sat in my car for 2 hours with my friend who was visiting from out of town. At midnight when we were both falling asleep and had safety concerns about sleeping in a car that late @ night, I had to go and pay to stay at a hotel. I left my cell phone on all night and all morning - maintenance had not returned my call. My friend lives out of state and could not get her things to return home. I was furious!!!!!!!!
If you rent here you do so at your own risk - the quality declined substantially in the 2 years I lived there and the rental price continues to go up!
