Brookdale Lakes

Beautiful apartments: my place has a fireplace, roman bathtub with a whirlpool, full size washer & dryer, spacious rooms, with a "great room" design for the main living area like you would see in a home. Bedrooms are split on either side for privacy. Plus there is a garage attached through the main hall.
Not brand spanking new (7 years old) but very well maintained. The past manager was not too good on administrative follow up or responsiveness - you just had to call back to find out the status. Maintenance was always handled, but stuff like approving website registration and general questions needed alot of follow up when Colleen was manager. Despite that service wasn't ever what I would consider bad.
Parking capacity isn't the problem. The problem is a few selfish people who want to park curbside in front of their doors or take up two whole spaces. Everyone has either a 1 or 2 car garage and their driveway. Plus there are parking courts. Management will take action WHEN YOU bring it to their attention. Just call the office and give them the make model and plate. They will advise the offending tenant to park appropriately. They can't fix it if they don't know about it.
Dog owners are required to clean up after their pets and stations are all over with the complex with poopy bags. If there is a problem just call management (leave a message if they don't answer) or send in an online service request, they will remind the pet owners of their obligations.
Maintenance is great, Hasan is the best. He is efficient and thorough. Whenever he comes in for a service request he will ask if there is anything else he can do and he takes care of it asap. If the regular maintenance staff isn't available, the manager can call on maintenance from another AIMCO community to get things fixed quickly.
The new manager, Donna, seems to be on the ball with follow up and very knowledgeable as well as efficient. It's very safe and quiet for the most part. As far as spiders, we are pretty far west near alot of farmland. There are geese, ducks, rabbits, foxes, racoons, from nearby lakes, farms, and forest preserves. So you can expect to see spiders outside. Let's put this in perspective, spiders actually kill other pests - they kind you don't want like ants and roaches. If you have an issue with insects inside or even outside they will come and get rid of them for you. I left a message reporting a wasp nest on my patio before leaving for work and it was gone by the time I came home.
Overall, they seem to really care about the property and it's tenants. Remember no place can be perfect, but Brookdales Lakes is excellent.
