My experience at chanteclear lakes have been good and bad. Good in the fact that they have always done a timely job on maintenance calls and bad because when our lease was up they tried to rip us off. In the lease it states that we have to let them know 60 days in advance that we weren?t staying. Our lease ended in August. We submitted a letter in June, stating that we weren?t coming back. Then on July 7 we did a follow up saying that we were reminding them that we weren?t renewing our lease. When I dropped the lease off they read it right in front of me and never said one word about the 60 day rule, they just asked us for our forwarding address and that was it. So we thought that everything was fine.

We move out and in to our other place and we receive a letter from their collections department saying that we owe them another month?s rent because we never gave them proper notice. After fighting with the collector and the apartment manager, and even showing them a copy of our notice, we still got nothing resolved except the collector dropped the bill down a few hundred bucks and the only reason we paid was because we didn?t want our credit to suffer.



Obviously they threw away our first notice and kept the second notice saying that this is the only thing we have in our file. We argued with them for about an hour and a half, trying to tell them we have a copy of the letter, but nothing. For people who are reading this, we don?t have the money for a lawyer.



NOw my question is to the person who wrote a review on 9/12, when this happens to you what are you going to do about it' Probably just sit there and take it up the you know what. You also stated that when you walk in they are nice and treat you like a king/queen. Dah, of course they are going to do that to everyone, if they didn?t they would be out of business. No one likes to walk in a store and be treated rudley. You don?t think that when you get out the door they are talking behind your back. We got ripped off plain and simple, I am writing this review to help people not complain. Yes they do do some good things over there, but to rip someone off like that, it just pisses me off!
