First of all, I don?t want to mislead anyone (like some other apt complex postings). While I have lived in the building and my ratings are based on that, I am also a manager at 5th Avenue Station and I am responding to the most recent posting in that capacity.
#1 - there are absolutely no "rusty pipes" sticking out of any walls anywhere in the building. That would be a dangerous situation and we are not in the habit of placing our residents in danger. There are bolts in the walls and some nail and staple marks in the gorgeous wooden columns. They are there because they are original to the building, are not a hazard and are part of our historic status. Old IS charming and that is a good part of why most people live here.
#2 - Yes, some of our appliances are out-dated and we are currently in the process of upgrading all of the washer and dryers. We do provide dishwashers, microwaves, automatic ice-makers AND washers and dryers. That is considerably more than a lot of other complexes offer. In addition, if there is ever a maintenance issue with ANY appliance, it is dealt with swiftly and cheerfully. Often we replace them with new models immediately. (Perhaps this person was so busy listening to his neighbor?s sex lives, he didn?t have time to call in a maintenance request.)
#3 - The noise issue. We are an apartment complex. You live in close proximity to other people. You may occasionally hear televisions, radios, voices, etc. If it becomes unbearable, contact the Management Office. We have procedures in place to deal with noise. I don?t think that hearing one neighbor exclaim one time in two years regarding a sweater is enough to cause you to write off an entire complex as "noisy", but that is just me. Regarding the issue of small gaps between the ceiling and drywall, yes, that is an issue for some tenants due to the charm of an older building that settles. We can fill the holes in with insulation and caulk them closed. We have done it many, many times for lots of satisfied tenants. Again, all you have to do is call. We cannot read minds.
#4 - The water backing up in the sink may or may not be from a neighbor. A good plumber would be able to tell you that if you use too much soap in your dishwasher or clothes washer, you will back up your pipes. Again, a situation that is easily dealt with IF WE KNOW ABOUT IT.
In conclusion, 5th Avenue Station is a wonderful property, with excellent tenants and a caring and concerned Management staff. I would never want to work or live anywhere else. I encourage anyone interested to stop by or call for an appointment. Thanks for reading!
