Good Value & Good Service

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I leased a one-bedroom apartment here for two years and was very pleased with the complex's location, price, and service. Its proximity to Naperville and the Metra train station, its solid maintenance service, its safe location, and its reasonable rents made this a nice place to live for two years. The only reason I left is because I got a job in Kansas City and needed to move out of Illinois. Here are my experiences with several aspects of the complex:
Parking: Never had a problem finding parking in front of my building, despite coming home at all hours due to school and work schedules.
Noise Level: I only had a few notable interruptions in my two years here. The few times this has come up, I talked to my neighbor and he quieted everything down. I think this hasn't really been a problem because the people in the building all seem to be respectful of everyone else. One other note--if your apartment faces onto the parking lot instead of the lake or playground, you're more likely to experience noise interruptions, but it's nothing unreasonable.
Grounds: The complex has a fairly new pool that was rebuilt in 2004; it's well-kept. The parking lots and playground all seem to be kept in good shape, too. Inside the buildings, the floors are regularly cleaned and there's never been an issue of trash being strewn throughout the hallways. Additionally, in 2005, the interiors of the buildings were refurbished with new paint and carpeting.
Safety: Doesn't really get any safer than Naperville. No problems with crime. I think I've only seen the police at the complex once in the two years I lived here.
Construction: This is a drawback to these apartments--the buildings, appliances, cabinets, etc. are old. There's nothing fancy or luxurious about these apartments or the buildings. But, everything is in working order and in decent shape.
Maintenance Service Quality: I filed two maintenance requests in two years (the pilot light was out when I moved in and my window blinds broke); within the same day that those requests were filed, staff had fixed the problems. They are very responsive, effective, and helpful. Huntington's maintenance staff is a real asset.
Office Staff: Everyone in the office has been extremely helpful from the day I applied to live here to the day that I notified them that I'm moving out. Friendly folks who have been responsive and respectful, and I've really appreciated living at a complex that works to develop a good business relationship with their tenets.
Location: Wonderful location. It's within 5-10 minutes of downtown Naperville and the Metra station, which runs numerous routes into Chicago. Plus, it's a very safe neighborhood that is close to banks, grocery stores, etc. The one drawback - traffic on Naper Blvd. Northbound Naper backs way up off of Chicago Ave. in the morning rush and it can be a pain trying to turn left onto Naper Blvd.
Drawback: Only one thing that has really bothered me while I've been here. My building doesn't have central AC, so my apartment had a wall AC unit in the living room. It was in poor shape and did a horrible job of cooling off the apartment--with it being in the living room, the small amount of cold air that it generated didn't make it into the bedroom. So, it was usually quite warm in the bedroom, which makes it very uncomfortable to sleep in. The apartment managers would do well to either replace the AC units or install central AC.
All in all, this is a really good and VERY inexpensive place to live, and I certainly recommend it to prospective tenets. I'm not sure about some of the supposedly horrendous experiences of some of this website's respondents, but I always received prompt and courteous service. You will too.
