I would not recommend this place.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
My husband and I rented this as our first apartment in late 2005. It fit well in our price range and wasn't too far out of our way. We liked how close it was to downtown Naperville (around two miles, easy walking distance for a day out). The courtyards behind the apartments were also a nice touch--I'm used to having large trees and such in my neighborhood, so this worked well.
The problems, however, started to appear rapidly. First, our clothes dryer broke and would not dry anything. It took them maybe two weeks to come out and fix it. Next, the dishwasher, which we discovered wasn't working properly in the first place, broke down and leaked everywhere. We mopped up the mess and gave maintenance a call. It was MONTHS of calling before they finally replaced it! That is simply unacceptable. I realize a dishwasher is not a vital appliance, but waiting that long to get anything replaced or fixed is insane.
There are house centipedes that come in through our air conditioning units. These are tiny to almost two inches long and covered in legs--they are FAST and they are not the kind of thing you want to see. During the spring, fall, and summer seasons we kill almost one a day.
The sound insulation sucks. I can hear my upstairs neighbors stampeding about upstairs. If anyone is out on their patio or deck talking, it sounds as if they're IN YOUR APARTMENT talking. The apartments themselves are falling apart. The walls seem to have been painted with primer only and not a finished coat of paint. The appliances are old. There are cracks in the walls that have been slowly expanding. The windows aren't sealed very well. In the summer, the main door of the apartment swells in its metal frame and it can be near impossible to lock the deadbolt without snapping the key off in the lock.
We live in the Phase III area of the complex, which is the southernmost series of complexes. I've always felt as if Phase III was the redheaded stepchild of the apartments. We went to get our pool key the first year and we were flat out told that we were NOT to use the main pool because we live in Phase III. Instead, we are apparently supposed to use the tiny pool in Phase III. They failed to give us information on ComEd and we ended up missing months worth of bills after we moved in.
They are trying to convert these apartments into condos. There is no way we would even consider buying a unit at this complex. Most of the previous residents here moved out after the condo conversion was announced, and most of the apartments remain empty in our building.
We are glad to finally be moving out after a little over two years (November 2005 - present). It would have come sooner, but our first lease was an extended one (18mos) and when that lease was up, we were in a bind with money and could not afford the moving costs or a new place.
It will be exciting to say goodbye to Huntington after one last month.
